Raudna River-One Hour of Estonian Wilderness

Recorded in the early morning of May 24th, 2025, just as the fourth hour of the day began. The soundscape opens in dim light, with the calls of cuckoos, corncrakes, and sedge warblers dominating the acoustic scene. As the recording progresses, the voices of the corncrakes gradually fade into the background, overtaken by the chorus of awakened songbirds. Soft gurgles rise from the river, and from time to time, a toad adds its own commentary. The Raudna River flows through Soomaa National Park—an oasis of silence in the heart of inland Estonia.

A Night on the Emajõgi River

The Emajõgi River connects Lake Peipus and Lake Võrtsjärv and is the only fully navigable river in Estonia. The sound recordings were made in a place where the Emajõgi River passes through the Alam-Pedja nature reserve. In May, when these recordings were made, the Emajõgi River there had risen over the banks and flooded the meadows. For recordings, I have chosen the darkest time between 1 and 3 in the morning. Then there are the fewest sounds of human activity, the air is clean, and the soundscape is the most beautiful. This is the time when most of the forest birds are still sleeping, but life is boiling and buzzing in the water field of the Emajõgi River

My exhibition in the Pärnu concert hall gallery

I set up an exhibition at the Pärnu Concert Hall gallery. There, my early works in the liquid emulsion technique from the series “Journey” and the latest from the series: “The sound of the place. Landscape Photos with Sound” share the space. The exhibition is open from November 1st to November 30th.

The exhibition is open during the cafe and box office opening hours, Mon-Fri 10-15.00 or on the day of the event/concert until the end of the concert/event (the gallery is also open during the concert for those who do not go to the concert).

Soomaa – The Sounds of Forests, Bogs and River Floodplains

I just released an album called Soomaa-The Sounds of Forests, Bogs and River Floodplains. Soomaa National Park turned 30 in 2023 and for this beautiful place’s birthday, I also finished my album that collects sound recordings made in the national park over different years. The first recordings on the album are from 2017 and the latest ones from 2023. In addition to how the place sounds, I really like the historical names of different places, rivers, bogs in Soomaa – Kuuraniidu, Kuusekäära, Tõramaa, Öördi etc. and that’s why they found their way into the names of the sound recordings
